Got Social Media conference in Houston
After a long, dark and rainy drive, I made it to the event, Got Social Media. The conference is about to start (I think) and, apparently, folks in Houston get social media because there's a bunch of folks here.
I did meet one of the organizers, Erica O'Grady, who is wearing a pink boa (not sure why, but you can't miss her!). Anyway, here's some video for your enjoyment. BTW, this is the first such event to be held in Houston.
Here's a link to the live stream
Paul,
I saw an ad about "Got Social Media" and thought, "I should follow up on that!" Well, it's good to find out that you are actually there.
Any event whose website starts by saying, "It’s predicted that by 2012 Social Media/Community Marketing Budgets will outweigh Traditional Marketing Budgets" is worth keeping tabs on.
Last March, I found a review of your book, Realty Blogging, in the LA Times http://snurl.com/1yd3e , and I have been following your work - and telling people about it - ever since. Why? You are on top of things, man!
Just noticed one of your recent posts, "Reading Twitter links more than feed reader links". That's what I'm talking about.
In July, my business, McBuzz, moved from Pittsburgh to Seattle and one of the first events I attended was an entire conference devoted to Facebook http://snurl.com/1yd40 You would have loved it.
Just this week, I sat down with the marketing director of a real estate start-up - focussed on the foreclosure market - to talk about a blogging strategy. First thing I thought of was you and your book. So I look forward to keeping in touch with you about that. If you have any recommended further reading, I would love to hear about it.
Best wishes,
Mark McLaren

Mark,
Wow. You've made my day. Thanks for the nice words. I appreciate them. Glad to be of help/service.
As far as books go, Meatball Sundae is a must. Also, Now is Gone. The New Rules of Marketing and PR is another. I'm also reading Beyond Buzz, which looks to be a good one; oh, and Join the Conversation.
I'm about halfway through all of them except Meatball Sundae, which I read in one sitting!
