From Bloggercon to Blog World, blogs celebrate 10th anniversary

Fireworks My schedule doesn't allow time to elaborate too much at the moment, but in reading Pete Blackshaw's blog I find that today, December 17th, 2007, marks the 10th anniversary of blogs.  Actually, it's the word "weblog" that we commemorate today, but that's close enough.

One of the first gatherings to peer over the horizon where blogging is concerned was Bloggercon, born in 2003, some six years after the birth of the blog.  (BTW, both blogging and Bloggercon owe their origin to the infamous Dave Winer.) Most recently, blogs took over the "world" with an event entitled Blog World.

I'll have more to say later in the day, but allow me to leave you with this: Much has changed in 10 years. It is not hyperbole to say that this amateur-driven form of publishing revolutionized how marketing communication is done. All I can say is blogging has been very good to me! I owe much to it.

Viva la blog. Viva la user-generated content. Viva la conversational media. May your reign never cease!

I owe much to blogging as well. It has brought me full circle on more than one level in my life. And, I am blessed with new friends found in the near and far reaches of the Blogosphere, including you! I wonder where the next year will bring us?

I feel the same way Fran. You were the first real estate blogger I met in person, and I count you as one of my dear friends.

Happy 10th blog day to you as well Paul.

Kind of funny that Fran popped in before me since I met you while poking around at the NAR expo taking part in the Real Estate Blog Squad that she organized.

Kinda funny how things work out sometime, eh?
