Frozen Pea Friday & Boobs on Ice

Frozen Pea Fund

Today, I received this email from fellow blogger Jim Turner about something that's caught the attention of the web...

Those of you that are not participants on Twitter may not otherwise get to see this but I wanted to make you aware of something that has caught hold and gaining steam in the social media world.

Today is Frozen Pea Friday.  The reason behind the campaign is to show support for a friend Susan Reynolds.

Jim goes on to say...

Susan is a big user of Twitter and she recently found that she had breast cancer.  She has blogged about the entire process and has been very open on Twitter about her story.

The campaign started due to her using frozen peas to help the swelling and pain in her breast.  Her story has really sparked a lot of conversation online and is making huge headlines throughout the blogosphere.

In fact I was able to get TechCrunch to run the story.  Take a look at the links I'm providing, and if you feel generous during this season especially give a little to the cause.

Even though Friday is just about over and most of you are focused on getting those last minute Christmas gifts, pass this along to friends. Let's continue the meme, what do you say.

PS: Boobs on Ice is today's Featured Blog on Typepad.

PSS:  Susan is having surgery today. Pray that all will go well.  (By the time I write this, she's probably already had it.)

PSSS: Isn't this amazing? Using Twitter, blogs, etc. to spread word about something important. And to think it all started with one person's story. I love the new web.

Hey,
This is David Neff over at the American Cancer Society. Thanks so much for posting about this. Susan is just one of the many women that face Breast Cancer every year. Thanks for helping us spread the word that this disease is treatable if caught.
